"I joined the Singapore Monologue Slam because I figured that it will be a good opportunity as an aspiring actor to put myself out there and try out something. Doing monologue and just specifically a monologue is a bit out there I would say.
What I really love about performing is actually to find a way to relate myself, to the character that I am playing and also finding various characteristics and play around with that as though I was a child.
I think it is a very good opportunity to a lot of actors to really get some experience, especially for the first timers and also for those who has experience to focus on working with monologues because I feel that it is one of the important thing in place because usually it is an relationship with another character. While that is also important monologues are also the foundation for any actors.
One of the challengers I have as an actor is that I think too much. One thing that I am trying to get around is, head, heart and gut. Something that I do not do often is actually gut so I am trying to get more comfortable with using my instincts.
My advice for aspiring actors would be definitely try out something new, try out something like the Singapore Monologue Slam, audition for plays because you will never know if you do not try."
