“The reason why I joined the Singapore Monologue Slam (SMS) is because I just want a little bit of a challenge, especially after attending the first course of Lee Strasberg Introduction to Method Acting. It opened another set of floodgates and I just really enjoyed doing the monologue and it was something new to me. I just thought why not just challenge myself for a character that is a little obscure, a little bit different and also dark, to really feel what it is like to breathe her in my DNA and have the chance to compete with other amazing talented human beings for something that I have never really done before! This is an exciting and interesting journey that I am taking at the moment.
What I love about performing is I like finding all my little ticks and where my nervous tensions lie every time I practice and if I am still holding this tensions. Every single time I do it, it is like a new discovery so I like challenging myself out there and just trying to iron those kinks out, detect the mice that lives in my little bones.
My challenges would be just really preparing myself for what it is like to actually be in front of the audience because it is one thing to practice in the shower or when you're chopping the vegetables and it is another thing to be in front of all these people and have that whole ambiance. So I just think I need to prepare myself for that, instead of relying myself on just the practice and the repetitions I have done at home.
I’m very excited to get started and to get going!"
